Reforming Works – Winter Maintenance

Winter maintenance consists of vegetation removal, tree and bush trimming and reforming works and is usually undertaken between November and July each year. Clearance of trees and bushes alongside watercourses is essential to preserve access to the watercourses.

Reforming involves re-profiling of the banks and removal of silt from the bed of the watercourse to return it to its original design storage capacity.

TVIDB has an ongoing programme of works to reform watercourses to ensure they are able to convey flows efficiently and thereby deliver the required standard of protection against flooding.

This work is undertaken with the consent of the relevant environmental authorities and after a full survey by the Board’s Environmental Officer.
